It was a night to remember– KL’s Largest Start-Up Party organised and hosted by Drinkentrepreneurs KL. Now in its fifth year, this momentous event spoke to the young start-ups, entrepreneurs and business owners all across Malaysia, bringing them under one roof at Kyo, Mandarin Oriental for a night of mingling, chit-chatting and drinks. After all, those who’ve experienced the events know that, “It all starts here over a drink!”
As a home-grown brand ourselves, Acquire has always been an advocate of growing homegrown startups and is constantly on the lookout for ways to help the local entrepreneur community. Along the way, we have helped mentor and guide numerous startup businesses and assisted them in securing funding to propel them forward. We even have had several testimonials from past clients who were once young startups themselves and are now able to stand on their own two feet with our help. By participating as the Gold Sponsor for KL’s Largest Start-Up Party, we saw the immense potential the Malaysian business scene has in terms of innovation and connectivity amongst these budding entrepreneurs. It was indeed our pleasure and honour to be a part of something like this as it falls in line with our belief and stance of enabling homegrown startups.
What more, what made this contribution even more significant was seeing how rapidly the tickets were selling out with 700 tickets snapped in up within three days of opening registration. This was a promising indication of the growing interest within the local entrepreneur community to get out there and let their names be known. The fifth year anniversary of Drinkentrepreneur KL was the largest party that ever organised by Drinkentrepreneurs worldwide. There are plans to make this quarterly affair with various other activities so that there can be informal avenues and settings for seasoned and budding entrepreneurs to discuss, learn and connect over ideas and collaborations. We are certainly looking forward to how else we can continue supporting and growing the community.
Having first started off in France, Drinkentrepreneurs offered an alternative to extremely formal networking or startup events that often intimidates many. The concept of Drinkentrepreneurs opens up an informal, laid back atmosphere that connects people from all walks of life, different stages of business and from various industries. The Kuala Lumpur chapter begun in 2013 by Lingesh Thayala and Ganesh Mahendranathan and is now the largest chapter in the world with 61 events held since its launching.
